The History of “The Salvage Store

The Salvage Store’s roots go back to 1986 while I was still in high school. The days of selling the school beef jerky to the band fund raisers and antiques at auctions on Sundays. The first store was called Grandma’s Glasswork and Collectibles and it was located in the Thunderbird Flea Market in Mandeville.

When I graduated from high school in 1989 I took the $500.00 I had saved and along with my Dad’s matching $500.00, we started what is today The Salvage Store. The first location was on Lee Road in Covington, Louisiana next to Spells Grocery. We sold an array of general merchandise. Two years later, we moved to our current location in Folsom where we have been since 1991. My father retired in 1995 and that’s when our transformation into the salvage grocery business began. Since then we have grown the company to provide three locations across two parishes including Washington and St. Tammany, along with multiple warehouses and a corporate office / distribution center in Bogalusa.

We still promote the feeling of family with my son Derek, now taking on a major role in the company. We are committed to providing quality products at great prices and maintaining the high standards, our customers have come to expect. Come check out what were all about, I promise you will not be disappointed.
